With six games to play, the Burnaby Atom A1s are in good shape to clinch top place in Flight 2 of PCAHA GVC Atom hockey.
The team is currently in second place, three points behind the New West Atom A1s, but have three games in hand, the same 10 game win record and four fewer losses.
Burnaby’s two losses however, have both come at the hands of the cross-town rival BWC Atom A3 team. BWC are currently in 4th place, with an 8-5-0 record, and have a full seven games yet to play – so if they run the table, the Bruins could bag 47 points. The maximum potential for Burnaby A1 is 48; for New West 42.
The NSWC Atom A2s are lurking in third place at the moment with a 9-7-0 record, and could go to 40 points with a perfect finish. They’ve been victim of a schedule that has seen them lose all four league games to #2 Burnaby A1s, while downing #1 New West and BWC A3s, 2 games to 1.
The wildcard is the Hollyburn A1s who have won four straight wins since the New Year after coming down from Tier 1, where they were 1-10-1. In tier 2 they’ve downed all four of the top four teams.
