Tier 1 Peewee Final Four
The four top seeded Peewee A1 teams in PCAHA regular season play have advanced from Round 3 to the Final 4, at the Richmond Ice Centre this weekend.
#1 BWC recorded two easy wins over #8 Coquitlam to advance.
#2 Seafair also won both games handily, 6-1 and 7-1 vs #7 Hollyburn.
#3 NSWC tied #6 Semi, 4-4 in game 1; won the second game 5-1, and game three 7-3 on Feb 25.
#4 Langley A1 defeated #5 Cloverdale in four games, win a 4-0 final game on Feb 22.
Background:
BWC A1 and Seafair A1 have been by far the two toughest teams in the league so far this year. BWC finished the season 17-1-2, the Islanders 16-2-2. North Shore and Langley were a respectable 13-6-1 and 12-6-2 but clearly a step down from the two leaders in regular season play.
Seafair handed BWC it’s only regular season loss, 3-0 in the season opener, Nov 12. The teams tied in their second meeting, 6-6 on Jan 14. Langley accounted for the other BWC tie, an 8-8 shootout Dec 8.
BWC and Seafair both fared well at the recent Quebec International Peewee tournament, whereas NSWC failed to score in their first two games and were knocked out early. Langley were not in the tournament.
Penalties could be a major factor in this series, with both Seafair and Langley coming in with almost double the BWC and NSWC totals.
The two top teams will advance to the Provincials, and will be joined by host Vancouver T-Birds Mar 16-21, along with Zone teams from across the province.
All Final 4 games hosted by Seafair Minor Hockey at the Richmond Ice Centre.
