The Semiahmoo Ravens wrapped up their Final 4 weekend with three straight wins to claim this year’s PCAHA Peewee Tier 1 Championship title. All four of the top regular season teams had advanced to the Final 4.

The Ravens opened with an 8-0 shutout of the #4 seeded Langley Eagles on Friday, then downed #3 NSWC 8-5 on Saturday (with two empty netters), and finished with a 4-2 decision over host #2 BWC.

In the game vs NSWC on Saturday, North Shore jumped out to a 2-0 lead at the end of the first, but Semi regrouped quickly with two goals early in the second, and then added three more, to finish the period 5-3.

It was 6-3 about three minutes into the third, but North Shore battled back, and with 3:39 left got it to 6-5.

Semiahmoo scored their first empty netter with 34 seconds left, and then got another one with 0.7 seconds left, to finish the game 8-5. Shots were 42 – 34 for Semi.

In the game Sunday vs BWC, Semi again fell behind, 1-0 after the first and 2-0 early in the second, before rallying to take a 2-2 tie into the third.

Semi got their first lead less than a minute into the final frame, on a high shot that went in off the top of the goaltenders stick. The insurance goal came with 2:45 remaining, to close it out at 4-2.

Shots finished 33-30 for Semi.

As the Ravens are hosting the Provincials and finished first, the #2 and #3 teams also advance this year (typically only two represent the PCAHA, except when a PCAHA team is hosting).

A tie breaker was necessary to determine the other two teams to advance, as they finished in three way tie, all with 1 win and 2 losses.

BWC had lost 4-2 to NSWC in their opener, posted an 8-5 win over Langley in their second game, and then finished with the 4-2 loss to Semi.

NSWC had opened with the 4-2 win over BWC, then lost 8-5 to Semi, and 4-3 to Langley in their final game.

Langley got better as the round robin progressed. After starting with the 8-0 loss to Semi, they battled BWC hard in game two – the game was tied 5-5 early in the third – but eventually fell as BWC scored two and added an empty netter to close it at 8-5. Langley then finished with the 4-3 win over North Shore on Sunday.

In the tiebreaker, BWC and NSWC advanced on better goals for and against differentials (GF / GF+GA).

BWC was 12/25 (.480); NSWC 12/26 (.461); and Langley was 9/28 (.321).
