North Shore, TBirds and Semi will scrap for second
With five shutouts in 10 games, and just one tie to blemish an otherwise perfect record, the Burnaby Winter Club Peewee A1 Bruins have proven they are the team to beat in the PCAHA Tier 1 competition this year.
The team racked up an impressive 53 goals for vs 7 against in the ten game pre season round; with six of those goals against coming in two games, the 3-3 tie vs North Shore in the preseason opener, and a 9-3 result vs the feisty Ridge Meadows team, in game nine.
The Bruins finished off their placement round with a 9-3 drubbing of Langley, who fielded a thinner than usual roster, due to the suspension of several top players due to a dressing room incident.
The Bruins first place finish in the placement round comes hot on the heels of first place finish in the presitigous Chicago Bauer tournament, played on the weekend, of Nov 2-5 where the club defeated the typically number one ranked team, the Toronto Marlies, with a very solid 6-1 result in the final game.
So safe to say, BC hockey, and particularly BC hockey as played at the Burnaby Winter Club, is top calibre in all of Canada.
That means serious bragging rights.
The team to challenge the Bruins, will be the North Shore Winter Club Winterhawks, who had had taken a 3-0 lead on the Bruins in the league’s first placement game, October only to see BWC claw their way back into the game, and notching the tieing goal with just 8 seconds left in regular time.
