The race for a banner could not have been any closer in the PCAHA’s Midget Flight 1.
North Vancouver was able to overtake idle Richmond thanks to a 5-1 over Burnaby, while Langley was in a position to pass both North Vancouver and Richmond with a win, but fell just short, settling for a 3-3 tie with Cloverdale. That meant that North Vancouver and Langley each finished with 40 points, but with North Vancouver holding the tie breaker (with one more win), they are the division champs.
The flight 1 playoffs should prove to be just as exciting and tightly contested.
Round one opened earlier this week with the Burnaby Winter Club defeating Coquitlam by a 5-3 score. They will now advance to play first place North Vancouver in round 2. South Delta shut out the Vancouver TBirds 3-0 in round one, which means they will face second tiered Langley in the next round.
Other round two matchups include:
Richmond (3) vs Seafair
Semiahmoo (4) vs. Port Coquitlam
Hollyburn (5) vs. Surrey (13)
Cloverdale (6) vs Burnaby (12)
Chilliwack (7) vs Ridge Meadows (11)
NSWC (8) vs Abbotsford (10)
