The Prince George Midget A1 Cougars played an up tempo, stay out of the box game all weekend at the Vernon tournament, and it paid off with a championship banner.

The team posted a 3-0 record in the round robin, downing OHA 3-2, Vancouver TBirds 5-1 and Juan de Fuca 7-4, before defeating NSWC 4-0 in the semis and then finishing with a second 3-2 win over OHA to claim the banner.

OHA had advanced to the final with round robin wins over JDF 5-0, and Vancouver 3-1, and a 4-1 semi win vs Calgary.

In the final, the Cougars came out flying, posting 15 shots on goal vs just 6 from OHA in the opening frame, but the period finished with the score tied 1-1. In the second period OHA reversed the flow, putting 16 shots on goal vs 11 by the Cougars. Again each team scored once and the period ended 2-2.

In the final frame, both teams tightened up play but the Cougars took advantage of a power play opportunity to score the winner at 13:30 of the final frame.

In the 5th vs 6th medal game, host Vernon Vipers (1-1-1) defeated Juan de Fuca 5-3 (1-0-2).
