KENT, April 16, 2015 — Seattle Thunderbirds general manager Russ Farwell today announced defenceman Jarret Tyszka (03-15-99) has signed a WHL Standard Player Agreement with the team.
“We are very happy to be adding Jarret to our team going into next season,” said Farwell. “He had a good season and has added both size and strength over the year. Jarret has the potential to be a top player in our league and with his skills and skating can contribute offensively and has the size to play solid defence. He will be a fun player to watch develop as a Thunderbird.”
“I am very happy and excited to be joining the T-Birds. I can’t wait to get started. I watched a few regular season games and I came down for playoff practices. It was so cool to come down for practices before the playoffs started. It was a very high level of play with good speed on the ice.”
Tsyzka, from Langley, British Columbia, was the T-Birds first round selection, 16th overall, in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft. Tyszka had three goals and seven assists for 10 points in 23 games for the Midget Team at the Yale Hockey Academy in Abbotsford, British Columbia, this season.
In his draft year Tyszka played 68 games with the Langley Bantam A1 Eagles in the PCBHL and had 27 goals and 47 assists for 74 points with 117 penalty minutes. Tyszka also played for Team BC in the Canada Winter Games this year. He is currently listed at 6″1″, 165 lbs.
