The Delta Hockey Academy is set to play in the inaugural season of the CSSHL’s new Bantam divisions, which will open play for the first time over the weekend of September 27-28.
The Okanagan Hockey Academy (Kelowna), Edge School for Athletes (Calgary), and Pursuit of Excellence Hockey Academy (Kelowna) will also field teams in Bantam as the CSSHL expands from three divisions (U-18 Prep, U-18 Varsity, Elite 15) to five.
“We are extremely proud to be expanding the CSSHL into the Bantam Prep and Bantam Varsity divisions in the 2014-15 season,” said CSSHL chair Andy Oakes at the time of the announcement.
“This moves the league into a very important developmental age that our programs are focusing on. With the addition of this division it gives a player the ability to develop in a sport school setting from the age of 13 to 18 years old while focusing on the development of their hockey, character and academics.”
The Bantam divisions are split into two tiers, Prep and Varsity. The Delta Wild Bantam Prep and Varsity teams both open up their CSSHL season with two games against POE in Kelowna. The Bantam Prep Wild went 3-0 in exhibition play, outscoring their opponents 14-3.
The CSSHL Bantam schedule is made up of four league showcase weekends, three invitational weekends that will include other elite programs from Canada and the United States, and concludes with a playoff weekend.
