The Seafair Islanders lost their opening game in this year’s edition of the Quebec International Peewee Hockey Tournament, in a gut-wrenching 3-2 shootout vs the Sherbrooke Phoenix.

The Islanders are coached by Seafair Hockey Director, and former Washington Capitals player, Jaroslav (Yogi) Svvejkovsky, whose son Lukas is also on the team.

Lukas scored the Islanders first goal to tie the game early in the second, and then notched the Islanders second goal to tie the game 2-2 mid-way through the third.

Sam Ho assisted on both goals; Robbie Fromm-Delorme and Jerric Palma also got helpers.

The Islands now move to the B side of the tournament bracket, and will play the loser of the Montreal Canadiens vs Boston Bandits, in their next tournament game, on Sunday.

The team can still advance to the final, but will have to win their next three games to get there.

The Islanders are ranked second in the PCAGA Tier 1 division, with a league record of 16-2-2.
