The Penticton Vees have announced they are very proud to support second year player, Cassidy Bowes, who has decided to grow out his hair and raise money for cancer research.

Bowes, from Grande Prairie, Alberta, hasn’t gotten a hair cut in over a year and won’t cut it again until he hits his goal.

Playing off his jersey number, the goal for the fundraiser is $9,292.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to accept donations, and when the goal has been reached, Bowes will cut his hair and donate the money to the Children’s Cancer Research Fund.

There is no set date to reach the goal. However, since the annoucement was made yesterday, $1,400 has been raised by 13 donors.

His hair will also be donated to help make wigs for those going through cancer treatment.

A link to the GoFundMe will be pinned on the Vees Twitter account throughout the duration of the fundraising.
