Justin Wilson commits to AIC Yellow Jackets

Salmon Arm Silverbacks forward Justin Wilson has committed to play NCAA Division 1 hockey at for the American International College Yellow Jackets (AIC – Springfield, Massachusetts) next season.

Wilson has played his entire hockey career in the province of B.C. up until this point.

The 1998-born BCHL veteran is currently enjoying his third full season in Salmon Arm. Wilson playied minor hockey at the North Shore Winter Club in North Vancouver, and then two years of BCMML with the Vancouver NW Giants (28G-68 points in his second year, 2015-2016).

 

 

The 6-foot-4, 200-pound North Vancouver native is having his most productive season in the BCHL, putting up 36 points (19 goals, 17 assists) in only 28 games this year after missing most of October and November.

His previous high was 31 points set in the 2016-17 season. Even after missing 17 games, Wilson is still the Silverbacks second-leading scorer.

In total, the 20-year-old has totaled 94 points (45 goals, 49 assists) in 129 career regular-season BCHL games.

 

 

The AIC campus is located in Springfield, Mass. and the Yellow Jackets play in the Atlantic Hockey conference, competing against Air Force, Army West Point, Bentley, Canisius, Holy Cross, Mercyhurst, Niagara, Robert Morris, Rochester Institute of Technology and Sacred Heart.

 

 

AIC are currently in first place in the Atlantic Hockey standings with an in-conference record of 12-7-1.

This year’s Yellow Jackets roster features Wenatchee Wild alums Kyle Stephan and Blake Christensen, Surrey Eagles alum Darius Davidson and Victoria Grizzlies alum and team captain Shawn McBride.

Wilson is the only currently BCHL player committed to AIC.
