Wolf Pack stretch it out at top of Tom Shaw

The Aldergrove Kodiaks finally stopped the North Vancouver Wolf Pack December 5 with 3-2 home ice victory, bringing the Pack’s 11 game winning streak to an end.

Over the 11 game stretch, the Wolf Pack had outscored opponents 67-17, and continued to increase their lead over #2 Delta Ice Hawks at the top of the six team PJHL Tom Shaw Conference.

The loss set up a key contest between the two leaders three nights later as the Ice Hawks rolled into North Vancouver Saturday night.

The Wolf Pack were ready, and jumped to the attack early, firing 18 shots on Hawk’s goalie Jordy Engleson in the first period, but only managed a single goal.

The Ice Hawks bounced back with 10 shots in the second, and evened things up at 1-1, to set up the third.

The Pack then took the lead early in the frame on a power play goal from Justin Lee. But Delta soon answered with shorthanded on a goal from Mark Epshstein at the seven minute mark.

But that would be it for Delta – newly acquired Wolf Pack addition Robert Johnson scored the winner at 12:30, with Dom Davis getting the insurance about three minutes later.

Shots finished 43-25 Wolfpack.

Davis was awarded first star, with Aiden Bar-Lev-Wise (2A) second star, and Engleson third star. Spencer Eschyschyn got the win for the Wolf Pack.

North Van are now 10 points up on the Ice Hawks.

The Richmond Sockeyes meanwhile have slipped back into third place – but are only three points back of the Hawks with a game in hand.

Tight race at top of Harold Brittain

The Abbotsford Pilots continue to be the hot team in the very competitive Harold Brittain Conference, winning five of their last seven games, and now hold a narrow two point lead on the Langley Trappers. The two teams were tied in early November after the Trappers had held the lead in October.

The Ridge Meadows Flames and Aldergrove Kodiaks are right there with the leaders though. The Flames are just two points back of the Trappers, and four back of the Pilots, with the Kodiaks just one back of the Flames.

Scoring Leaders:

Five 20 year olds are top of the league scoring race – with Abbotsford’s Baylee Wright continuing to dominate, with 28G-48A, and 74 points. Team mates Jacob De Waal (22-26, 48) and Cameron Obcena (10G-34A, 44) are next, followed by two Delta Ice Hawks vets, Jordan Deyrmenjian (14G-29A, 43) and Daniel Rubin (17G-25A, 42).

North Van’s Jacob Fournier (00) is the youngest player in the top group, tied for #10 with 7G-29A, 36.
